UK Oracle Applications Unlimited Day

On November 15th, at Oracle’s Reading offices, we, alongside Oracle customers, attended Oracle Applications Unlimited 2022 UK event. It was the first time since the pandemic we were able to meet in person. Paul McCartan, VP, EMEA Application License Sales, opened by reminding us how Oracle is helping customers to unlock the benefits from the latest product developments. Jeff Erickson, Senior Director, Product Manager for JD Edwards, and Mark Herwege, Senior JD Edwards Engineering, kicked off an impressive JDE session, walking us through the many product enhancements delivered in Release 22 and those just arrived in Release 23. There’s too many to cover here so I encourage you to visit Oracle’s LearnJDE site – it’s a must site for the JDE community.

For me, key take away points were…

  • The word “continuous” 10-year support for JDE (now until 2033) – that means 10 years’ notice of a support change (more than most IS Strategies)
  • More practical ways to use Orchestration, I particularly liked the automation of E1 configuration tasks such as company set-up and automation of package builds
  • Calling orchestration from a workflow opens the door for process improvements in areas such as Master Data Management
  • Sitting next to one of our customers and seeing their excitement about business process improvement opportunities provided by Release 22 and 23.

As I say, too much to cover here so please do add LearnJDE to your favourites.  And don’t forget, we’re at UKOUG Breakthrough event in Birmingham, please come to our sessions or seek us out.

Julian Lempriere, Business Development Director, Quistor UK
