Looking back at UKOUG Together 2021

In November, the UKOUG organized Together 2021, its first physical event in over two years, covering both Oracle Applications and Technology. The event took place at The Oval in London. We discovered in central London a conference site that carried testimony to a great history in cricket, going back to the beginning of the last century.

Some 300 people attended the event. One mutual reaction was shared by all: it was great to connect again and meet in person, although shaking hands was certainly not encouraged. Covid-19 anecdote: apart from providing hand gel throughout the venue, the organization attached a button to each lanyard indicating the comfort level of the attendee and exhibitor while meeting other people: red (no contact) yellow (ok to contact but no physical interaction), and green (ok with fist bumps and contact).

Quistor as Sponsor

Quistor UK was one of the main event sponsors, and we presented 4 sessions at the conference.

  • Spirax Sarco’s Move to Oracle Cloud: In this session, presented together with Spirax, we showed how its global platform for JD Edwards in OCI was built. Besides the move to OCI technology also changed from SQL Server to Oracle DBaaS and from Windows to Oracle Linux.
  • A customer case: Datalake and Autonomous Transactional Process and ODI: in this case, we presented the starting point and the challenges the business faced and described the new architecture using ODI, ATP, and ADW. 13 challenges were identified, and solutions delivered for each of them.
  • The added value of Oracle’s cloud offering for JD Edwards customers: Oracle’s public cloud offering is a cornerstone of its strategy. What does it have to offer JDEdwards customers? In this session, we took a look at Oracle’s IaaS and Paas offerings to run your JD Edwards on. We discussed the offering in more detail, whilst delving into various customer cases. Furthermore, we  looked at cost savings, migration planning, and run & maintenance of the JD Edwards environment in the Oracle cloud
  • What are your business challenges for 2022? During this session, we talked about how new technology can support your business challenges. Whether it is resourcing, knowledge, integration, mobile, customer portal, or anything else, how can you solve these challenges by taking advantage of the technologies Oracle delivers.

Quistor Partners

Some of our partners, Q-Software and DWS, also presented at the event, and their sessions were just as enlightening and busy.

For all the right safety reasons the social event was held on the roof terrace, overlooking the cricket grounds and the London skyline. Unfortunately, it was bitterly cold, and the heating gear popped a couple of fuses, so we didn’t stay as long as usual. . We finished the first packed day with an Italian dinner in good company.

Feel free to let u know whether you want more information on the session Quistor presented.

See you in 2022!
