Quistor wins share of European tender for OCRE project

Quistor has been awarded the status of official OCRE framework holder to support the European research and education (R&E) community with their journey towards digital transformation. Under the OCRE Framework Agreement, Quistor is the exclusive reseller of Oracle Cloud services in six European countries: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Over the next four years, Quistor will support the R&E community by offering consultation, migration, implementation, training, and managed services.

GÉANT & OCRE project

The Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE) project was initiated by GÉANT, the leading collaboration on e-infrastructure and services for research and education. The GÉANT network is co-funded by the European Commission and 39 national research and education network (NREN) partners across Europe. It connects a total of 50 million users in over 10,000 institutions.

The aim of the OCRE project is to accelerate cloud adoption in the R&E community. In order to keep up with the changing market, organisations need to rethink their digital strategy. It’ is now more important than ever for institutions to stay connected, deliver value, and maintain continuous adaptability.

Cloud-based services offer companies a wide range of powerful tools, but it is often time-consuming and complex to move this process forward. The OCRE project brings cloud providers and the R&E community together through ready-to-use service agreements. These agreements will make it easier for institutions to access commercial cloud services, eliminating the need to run complex public procurements and competitive tenders. Furthermore, OCRE will make €4 million in service credits available to research institutions, via adoption funding from the European Commission.

In total 473 framework agreements were granted to participants who ranked first in the evaluation as well as the 27 chosen cloud platforms.
